What are we doing?
Waste Composition Analysis
We now work in partnership withIntegrated Skills to provide effective analysis of Waste Composition, drawing out the strategic and policy implications of managing waste and recycling resource to benefit the municipal sector. We look forward to starting our first joint waste composition analysis next month!
Strategy development
We continue to support the Lancashire Waste Partnership in developing their joint waste strategy & Royal Borough of Greenwich & Birmingham City Council for their municipal waste strategies.
Options Appraisals / service reviews
We are working with Nottinghamshire County Council as part of their Technical Working Group, alongside representatives from the Council, Veolia and Ceres, considering MRF adaptations required for Simpler Recycling.
We are continuing work providing an additional commercial collection TEEP assessment for a Council in the South East of England, following completion of their domestic collections assessment. This is through Integrated Skills
We have been appointed by Harlow District Council and this month have new clients in Newark and Sherwood District Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Broxtowe Borough Council to undertake TEEP assessments for their domestic waste collections.
We have completed a TEEP assessment for Rochford District Councilfor their domestic waste collections.
We are also continuing our work with South Derbyshire District Council on an options appraisal of their waste collection service. We have completed the collection and carbon modelling and presented the results back to the council.
ETS and EFW
We are pleased to be supporting Gloucestershire County Council on pre-treatment options for residual waste sent to Energy from Waste. We’ll be looking at capital and operating costs, the potential to mitigate future liabilitiesunder the Emissions Trading Scheme and the general viability of such technology.
We are pulling together a regional EfW capacity picture for Coventry City Council to inform their long-term decision making on residual waste treatment.
We have just been appointed to undertake fuel supply due diligence on behalf of a developer for a new Energy from Waste facility.
Efficient & Effective
We are undertaking a review of a waste disposal authority and its progress towards ‘Efficient & Effective’ services, under EPR and also reviewing its ETS liability.
Where we have been and where are we going?
Paul and Cherie attended the Circular Economy UK Conference at [Birmingham’s International Conference Centre]() on 5th February. Paul was at the North West Resources Forum Annual Conference at Jodrell Bank on 28th January.
Paul also attended the Packaging Innovations and Empack at the NEC on the 12th of February.
Cherie is off to see Suez’s Renew Hub in Greater Manchester on 18th March, an event put on by the North West Resources Forum.
How we give back to our communities…
At FRM we donate 0.5% of all project fees to our social value fund, which enables us to donate to, and support, local causes, charities and environmental groups.
We recently supported the Bridgnorth Repair Café on the 7th February which saved many items from being end of life and are continuing to support the Sustainable Bridgnorth Green Fair, taking place on the 30th May.
This month, we contributed £250 to the Little Princesses Trust who provide free real hair wigs to children who need them and £100 to a campaign for Working with PTSD victims in Bosnia and £200 pounds to the Cavalier Centre in Much Wenlock.
